Anyone know how you can set the alarm confirmation sound you get when you lock the car ('chirp' 'blip'). I have looked through the settings and can't find anywhere to set it.

vcds can activate the alarm chirp. can't be done through MFD settings.

once its enabled with vcds you can enable/disable as you wish in your mfd as the option becomes available in the central locking menu

This all assumes VCDS can eventually access MQB / Mk7 gateways

I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has tried the Beta version on the Mk7.
I'm a bit hesitant until the fully tested version is released.

according to the ross tech site genuine vcds cables can be used on the mk 7 golf.

not the beta software! may have been on another forum but uwe from ross tech said it works on the mk 7.

Fair enough but it wasn't on another forum.

It is actually described as a Beta version on Ross Tech's own site.
I am loaded with the current version 11.11.5

Beta version 12.10.4 is for MK7

Unsurprisingly there's not much to play with. A lot of the control modules aren't present in the new MQB platform, and those few long-codings that had been translated already were mostly activations for things that the car already has. Guess its a waiting game for VCDS to do some work :)

Thats what I meant when I said there were access issues with VCDS and the MQB platform.
As RossTech said VW have been doing some interesting things !

Spoke to my dealer today and apparently they can't do it. Also spoke to customer services and the same response, although they did say that it may be possible when the VAS software is updated for the new platform. (Surely the software should be up to date!)

The alarm chirp is a 'test' in the cars diagnostics to see if the alarm works or not; it's not meant to be left on all the time so it's unlikely a dealer would do it for you anyway. Reason being is alarm arm/dis-arm is no longer allowed due to some EU directive set up about 3 years ago; so technically illegal for car manufacturers to release cars that make the noise.

Currently VCDS doesn't have many features available for the mk7 so you'll have to wait a few months for them to get up to speed.
