Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a 2008 Audi TT Roadster. I've enquired about one advertised privately and he advised that the Odometer had to be replaced, so the milage was reset to 0. He said he has all the paper work from Audi to verify this. He also said this is a common fault on Audi's?

Is this a common fault? Or should I just walk away? Or if I do go ahead with the purchase, what effect does this have on the price?

Thanks

Ben

I've just spoken to Audi and they said the milage should have been transferred over.

Have you HPI'd car? AA do a package deal Link:- Check a used car | AA (http://www.theaa.com/car-data-checks/)

Also if you buy after their HPI check you get protection insurance IIRC...

There are genuine cars with changed odometers... but check everything thoroughly...

I've done a HPI check and all seems okay. I'll be approaching it with caution.

have you checked the mot's online to look at the history? you may need the v5 ref number though.

also if you know someone with vcds its possible to check the mileage in the ecu but this only works if the car supports it.

my 2008 a6 doesn't but my 2009 a3 does (which the 8j tt is based on) so worth a try.

The car is a 2008 model, so will have 1/2 MOT's. I do plan to check it online though.

The milage can be corrected and this is something I would do if I went ahead with the purchase.
