Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone has had any problems with their Lane Change Warning System??

I was driving on a motorway on Sunday when a warning chime sounded and the Lane Change Warning System Failure indicator lamp lit up on the dashboard. At the same time, the red LED in the selector switch on the driver's door mirror went out and the system would not re-engage. After about 10 minutes, I tried to turn the system on again and it engaged and has worked ever since.

I ran VCDS when I got home and read the following error message from the fault memory:-
02853 - Warning lamp for lane change assistance (in left exterior mirror)
007 - Short to ground - intermittant

This is the second time I have seen this fault on my car (both times on motorways). The first time was for the Right exterior mirror and now the Left mirror. I half expected to see a blown bulb in one of the indicator lamps, but they all seem to be working fine (probably LED's anyway).

Is this a common fault on this car and does anyone have any idea what might be causing it??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Mike
