EC light has just activated on wife's almost new (1200 miles) 2 litre TDI Q5. Manual says to take straight to workshop, but she is due to drive the length of England leaving @ 7 in the morning. Usually these are a faulty sensor, but what's the consensus - delay start a few hrs and drop by the dealer, or risk it? Somewhat miffed - lots of friends said don't buy an Audi due to poor reliability -we figured new one would be ok and on first proper journey it does not even make the start line.

Thanks - I took a look, and it seems it might be the AdBlue leaking. RAC came out, it has thrown error P20E8 but he did not have the code loaded on his laptop, so no joy. I have seen reference to Reductant Pressure Low, which I think is Adblue. A relative commented a couple of weeks ago that after we departed, there was a white residue on the street where the car was parked - wondering if the adblue is leaking. Any guide on the P20E8 code? Maybe wife will have to delay trip and go instead to dealer first.

I wouldn't be driving it imo.

Get to audi ASAP and they'll give you a loan car.

I believe P20E8 relates to reductant pressure not much reference to it online but this system isn't standard yet. http://autos.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/VAG-COM/message/32918. For the price of a couple of fills of fuel can I suggest you buy VCDS diagnostic software. OBD software and OBD codes are NWAF on VAG vehicles you need this http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html look under the carpet in the boot apparently if you can find crystals there it's leaking

Thanks for advice. Actually, it was Audi Assist who sent the RAC round. We'll get it to the dealer in the morning and see what they offer. I have a sneaky suspicion that if it requires a part then we'll be in for a wait anyway. In the spirit of sharing, I'll post back what the problem turns out to be.
