Cornering lights on GT spec car. No idea where they came from.

It's part of the fog lights. In the pricelist it has always said "with static cornering function", though obviously not explained.

Thanks. They will reduce the chances of me running over the neighbour's cat and the local corncrakes.

That in the sat nav you can set 'cemeteries' as a POI. How did I manage without that?!

Being able to set the lights via settings (Xenons's anyway) for driving on the right when abroad.

Not an everyday need but pleasantly surprised me.

Corncrakes? In Slough? In March? Blimey!

Yup, the corncrakes are back again this year. There were about 7 at the peak last year, but we've just seen 2 so far this year. A pair? They let cars get much closer than they let humans get!

Waiting at the lights, a long time, to turn right...stop-start cut the engine.
Started to turn steeering wheel a little and engine fired up without me touching throttle.
Clever technology...

Stalled the engine, stop-start started it again automatically. Didn't expect that!

And fact that sat nav automatically imports contacts' addresses from phone

Thank you for the tip about the steering wheel. Handy, that.

I have to say that I am impressed by the media set up.
SWMBO's ipod touch has now gone back to her, and the 16gb sdhc card is sweetly playing.
It was a pain to load, though. My first attempt made by dragging albums from itunes was not too clever. The music on the sd card was not well sorted. Second time around I copied and pasted from the file, rather than from itunes, and that worked much better.

Tried this today but doesn't work for me.

Forgive me if this is stated elsewhere but is yours DSG"?

Are we sure that's a feature? I would have thought it was more likely that the stop-start was overridden (which is a feature) so that the engine could fire to provide some juice to power steering system.

Yes that sounds more logical..

( saints - 7 , yes DSG )

You can import logos for radio stations which are then displayed on the radio screen. Not earth shattering I know but still quite nice.http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b519/Oswald1964/7ec794d1ec0c4a24aeb4a9ef6fcd933a_zps4d361bec.jpg

You can achieve this fanned out effect for album art on the discover pro system,by tapping the icon of the currently playing album, however according to DaveB666 it doesn't appear to work on the 5.8" screen.

I didn't know you could put a preset in for the side mirrors by turning the mirror adjust to L or R depending on side. I somehow set this and when selecting reverse was promptly looking the the kerb on the left side and had to read up as to why.

I found setting images for phone contacts fairly amusing.

I found setting images for phone contacts fairly amusing.

Does that mean you got it to import contact photos? If so what phone do you have and how did you do it?

I have a Galaxy S3 connected via bluetooth I set the images via the phone then imported them via cars phone settings menu, I have the stock radio in the car (basic 5.5 inch).

I can double check it if you like a more detailed description.

Ok I have an S2 but couldn't get it to work. What do you mean when you say you set the images via the phone? I assume it would import what was already attached to the contacts.

I set the images first via my phone's address book selecting images from my gallery. I think off the top of my head, I connected the phone via bluetooth and re-imported all the contacts and the images were available. I might be missing a step there I cant fully remember.

Is that it then???

Is that our total know-how?

Come on, more insights and tips, please.

Borrowed my wife's ignition key and noticed the car drove a bit different.

Realised when I drove with my key that each key ( in conjunction with the ECU ) remembers your own 'Driver Mode' settings.

Nice touch..

Both my Audi's save different settings for the two different keys. Both non-keyless models.

Here's a good one. I noticed that the Passat came with a USB media cable but the Golf doesn't so I posed the question to the dealer and they gave me a free cable to make up for it. To add to my delight, the car will accept and run from a 300 GB hard drive that I connected up, all the music I could ever need on that beast. :-)

Stopped the car accidentally, hit the clutch and the engine is on again. No need to start over using the key. :) Found it very useful ...

and the second thing is when you enable the speed limiter to for example 90km/h and you want to go faster, just hit the gas pedal up to the very end and feel the click! and now you can surpass the speed limit ...

Li_Greeny
27-07-2013, 12:17 AM
The speed limiter actually prevents you exceeding the set speed? Hmm I thought it just gave you an audio tone to warn you (though I have never tried it out)... I might give that a go. Agreed on the Auto Start, makes stalling look like you meant it! :D

One of the view options on the Pro screen is a small popup window which can display a close up map of current location, gps details, route etc. Usually navigated from the menu at the base of the display.
Pressing nav button toggles this display.
Neat compared to similar function on rns 510

Hi, I really like the speed limiter, it works and keeps you out of a lot of trouble with average speed cameras. I need a long run to play with the cruise control. I am looking forward to the adaptive bit.

It can be released, while not wearing a seatbelt, by pushing the handbrake button down for a couple of seconds.

Cannot it not also be released by pushing the brake pedal and then pressing down the button?

I read that as Cornflakes!!

They were definitely corncrakes. Cornflakes don't normally have legs.

Were these TSi, or TDi Cornacrakes?

Tdi, probably with dsg, as they were slow to move.

After 6,000 miles, just realised that the centre armrest is adjustable for up/down. Hence it never closing properly first time. Duh.
