lost one of my fobs for the car and when I got it ,it didn't come with an emergency key . fobs are a fortune brandnew programmed for the transponder. my idea would be to buy an emergency key and put the transponder from it in a second hand remote fob .the fob can be coded to work the central locking and if the correct transponder code is picked up , the car should start . A bit cheap I know , I just cant justify around £200 for a key fob .

Que?
Is the emergency key something to do with the plastic shell of a keyfob that I have found lurking in my glovebox?

Opens door fine.
Starts engine fine and car can be driven.

The TT uses a conventicle key. It is referencing to the normal plastic valet key.
It should be in your manual on how use the emergency key.

its ok after a search on here found reference to someone using the emergency key after losing the original fob , it does actually start the car . so when the car goes in for the paintwork warranty il order one , £60 all in then for a working fob.
