Anyone know the sizes of the bulbs in the mk7 Golf? Have looked at the manual that's been uploaded but it cuts off before it reaches the bulb section.

Thanks

Which particular bulbs. I can then see if ETKA gives the details.

The manual shows how to replace them, but not what bulbs they are.

It seems quite an odd situation. I assume we are talking about halogen headlights rather than xenon headlights. If so there are two bulbs listed but neither has a normal type number.
The first is listed as: Halogen bulb for high beam, day driving lights and side lights and is 55W/15W - part no: N 107 333 01 and the listed price is £34.62 each incl VAT.
The second is listed as: Halogen bulb for dipped beam, 55W - part number: N 103 201 02 and the listed price is £17.16 each incl VAT.

It looks like these are special "longlife" bulbs and may only be available at the moment from Volkswagen. In the Audi section they use the same bulbs and list them as H15 and the prices are the same.

Having just looked on the auto bulbs direct website, they list an H15 bulb 55/15w as a OEM replacement on the Golf VI at £18.50 - H15 Halogen Bulbs (http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H15-Replacement-Halogen-Bulb.html)
Whether they are "longlife" it doesn't say. They are listed as Osram OEM replacement bulbs. VW probably specify longlife because the are difficult to get at to change. -

Strange one! I'll take one out for a nosey when I collect mine on the 1st March. I can't imagine VW have created 2 more bulbs to sit alongside the random H15 they made for mk6 DRLs.

I always replace my bulbs with brighter ones (and sadly my MD wouldn't allow me to upgrade to xenons).

It is possible for bulb manufacturers to make bulbs with filaments that will last longer than others but they usually cost more, so when comparing the VW OEM bulbs with other replacements it would be important to check that any cheaper ones are of similar quality or replace them more often.

If you look down the list of threads, one I started on 31 Jan 2013 called Owners Manual has the details plus some further links.

I was in the showroom this morning whilst waiting for the MOT to be carried on my MK6. I put the parking light on one in the showroom and the side light is incorporated in the DRL lamp there wasn't a separate bulb for the side light. So it appears the DRL lamp has three functions now, main beam, DRL and side/parking light. I assume the headlights are H7's still though?. I will be able to tell in a few weeks when mine arrives.

FYI - the headlight bulbs are H7. I've collected my car this morning and swapped them for some uprated items :)
