Hi all
second post on here - just updating on my issue with fluctuating engine revs when the engine was supposed to idling. Also affected the pick up when accelerating and driving it was pain as it was lurching too.
Basically, my bro-in-law brought round his diagnostic kit and said it was a broken throttle body. Sorry guys, can't remember the code.
So I took off the 3" black hose feeding the valve and played about with the butterfly valve - it's sprung to remain in the fully open position, but when moving it, there was no resistance as you would expect from the gearing inside.
After deliberating, I finally ordered a replacement part from:

About £60 cheaper than Dingbro etc. It arrived this morning and was very much a plug and play job (10 minutes). Engine now runs great, but engine management light is still on. Any way to remove this without plugging in a VAGCOM unit?
Will take pics of the internals of the throttle body so you can see the wear on the gears etc. I know this has been said before, but plastic gearing in a unit like this is disgraceful - of course it's going to wear out.
Right onto the next issue.........:D
Cheers
Tony
