I'm in the market for a new tax friendly and fuel efficient company car from my trusty MK6 2.0 tdi GT golf and the new A3 sportback ticks a multitude of boxes. I've considered and tested a V40 (boot too small), Mk7 Golf (borrrrrrrrrrrrring) and I'm testing a Civic on Friday.

I'm looking at the 1.6 diesels and the VAG unit is the least powerful, the Volvo 115bhp and the Civic 120 - the civic has the most torque, but the VAG motors are all quicker.

I've specd the car I want already https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12945292/A3%20-%20James%27.pdf And am chomping at the bit to order before month end to ensure I get Nav for free. The only downside is the 2.0 diesel which I may ultimately get as more is better :)

One thing that it may come down to is interior space - the Civic seems to have the biggest boot (I've been to a dealer and looked) - As I have 2 small kids. Does anyone know how the boot compares to a MK6 golf?

Any other views are welcome :)

I had an 8th civic and currently own an A3 SB.

Boot size was something I've taken into consideration when buying cars and its fair to say the civic boot size is excellent but I recall the figures quoted in the brochures didn't include the space saver wheel so in terms of useable space I didn't think there was much in it when looking at the current A3 SB and the Civic (8th or 9th gen) and I believe the new SB 8V has a marginally bigger boot than the 8P.

I looked at a Volvo V40 before ordering a new A3 SB and agree the luggage space was poor in comparison to the Audi.

There's no spare wheel in it - If it has solid build quality, then it's a potential contender.
