faulty wipers?

hi, first time post, got an A5 1.8T 58 reg 2 weeks ago. think I have a problem can anyone help? wipers on interval don't seem to work. on the first notch up it wipes a couple of times then no response. ive had a look online and it says they all have rain sensors standard true? the other two settings work fine but on the first setting even with the toggle switch messed with on all 4 settings, it will wipe a couple of times then no response an the windows completely drenched could this be faulty rain sensor? cheers

I find that the first notch is the least sensitive setting whereas the far right 4/5 bar notch is much more senstitive

BUT

i also think that if you put the wipers on to intermittent with the setting high already in advance then it doesnt seem as sensitive as if you instigate the interval wipers in a low setting then raise the sensitivity after it's on.
