Hi,

I have an intermittent blower failure issue with my A6 that is producing the above fault code. Within the fault it lists (V2) which I take it must be the complete blower fan unit.

Can anyone tell me what these other actual parts are that are also listed?

Control Module for air blower (J126)

Climatic control module (J255). Are these modules that are part of, or one of them the whole front control console where the blower buttons & fan/climate control buttons are located?

If not, where would these parts be located & any ideas of cost at all? I've been told that I may need to replace the whole control unit which houses all of the control buttons at around £700!! But if the VCD is listing both J255 & J126 as possible fault areas (as well as other poossibilities), then I'm hoping that I wont have to buy the whole unit.

Any ideas please guys?

Many thanks,

Jaset

Presumably you are referring this this code listing?

01273 - Fresh Air Blower (V2)

Possible Causes

Fresh Air Blower (V2) defective
Control Module for Fresh Air Blower (J126) defective
Short of open circuit in wiring to Fresh Air Blower (V2)
Climatronic Control Module (J255) malfunctioning

Possible Solutions

Check Fresh Air Blower (V2)

Perform Output Test (Check Air Vents while Blower is active)
Check Meas. Blocks while Blower is active

Check Control Module for Fresh Air Blower (J126)

Perform Output Test (Check Air Vents while Blower is active)

Check wiring and connectors

I find this is usually down to worn brushes on the fan motor.

Steve,just to add to this.
The car was scanned and the fault was logged and cleared.
After turning the ignition off and back on, the fan stopped blowing.
We removed the plenum chamber cover to get a look st the motor to check connections.
After a gentle tap on the top of the blower it started.
Would motor brushes fail in just over 3 years and can the be replaced.

....If only I was as smart as this bloody phone

Tapping the motor and it starting is classic brush wear. I find that they will start up if you slap the base of the heater box behind the glovebox.

Thanks Guys,

I'll get my mechanic to check for worn brushes. The blower unit is under the bonnet as George said but seems a bit bizarre that these would be worn on a 59 plate car?

The fault hasn't occured again since we looked at it (dont speak too soon), but I'll take the cover off I think, so I can tap it if & when it occurs next just to eliminate coincidence.

Cheers,

Jaset,
How did you resolve this problem in the end ? I have the same issue and fault code in VCDS
