This is the first car I done swirl removal on and couldn't wait to get at it. It was looking very tired and I had owned it for 18 months. The first pic shows what every panel was like. I have now moved onto a rotary polisher but still use the PC for tricky bits on the odd car I get the chance to work on. This just goes to show what you can achieve with a dual action polisher if you have the time and patience.

[BEFORE

PRE-WASH/WASH
Foamed thro' Superspray with Super Snow Foam and left for 3/4 mins then rinsed with hose
Soaked again, left for 3/4 mins followed by 2-bucket wash using Chemical Guys Extreme Body Wash n Wax. Sheepskin Mitt using light strokes
Pat dried using one Poorboys Waffle Weave Towel

CLAYING
Meguiars mild clay lubed with Megs Quick Detailer. Used one bottle for half a car and still managed to induce marring and scratches. I think my hand pressure was a bit too much here. I don't like claying unless machine polishing is coming next.
Rinsed and dried using a PB WW.

[COLOR=red]DURING

POLISHING
Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher
SONUS SFX 6in (on main panels) and 4in pads (bumpers and light clusters)
Menzerna Pro Polishes (Power Gloss, Intensive Polish, Final Finish (106FF and 085RD)

Each panel had 3/4 passes with Intensive Polish at speed 3 followed by about 6 passes at speed 5. Then wiped with medium MF.
Then same speeds and passes to finish with 106FF polish. Wiped residue again with medium MF.
Tried a couple of panels with Power Gloss for some deeper scratches but this was taking ages to break down on the PC (Rotary will be more effective) so when I was wiping residue I'm sure I was leaving behind some abrasives. As I said, only a couple of panels. This was sorted using 106FF to finish.

PROTECTION

1. Chemical Cleansing
Used Jeffs Prime to cleanse and lay base acrylic reflective layer. Will miss this out perhaps in future and just go for HD cleanse.

2. Sealing
Jeffs Acrylic Jett Trigger, two coats for its durability and optical reflective properties. On with MF app. and wiped using Poorboys deep plush MF towel (DMT). WON'T REPEAT THIS! Best sprayed on to MF and wiped onto panel, before buffing residue following instructions on bottle. One spray is enough for a single panel, thin is best.

3. Final Layer Waxing
Carbon on with supplied foam app. then buffed with PB DMT.
Sprayed with Zymol Field Glaze (very fine spray, don't use a lot) and buffed using PB DMT.

The tyres were dressed using Sonus Tyre and Bumper dressing.
The lower panels and inner wheel arch plastics were dressed as above, as were both front grilles.
The windows, inside and out, were cleansed using Zymol HD Cleanse. Excellent cleanser but I've since started using the JEFFS Prime as it cleanses AND protects with increased reflectivity and imaging.

In the pic below, you can see the difference between the corrected door panel (the one on the right!!!!) and the one still to be done.

SUMMARY

I was amazed at how mirror like the body becomes just form the polishing stages alone. It's awesome really and my 5-yr old car had a fair bit of swirling and cobwebbing removed, about 85%ish. What makes a huge difference is the removal of the Oxidation coating. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and my neighbour stood in genuine amazement.

Each panel is now a shimmering liquid mirror with a superb depth and richness of colour. The ming blue pearlescent flakes now pop out at me. I happened to look back at the car before entering a shop and it was glowing purple in the sun. I had never seen that before.

All in all I spent about £300ish and could have been doing with another 10 DMTs and another 10 medium MFs. I underestimated greatly the number of MFs you need for this. I have since put that right!!! I now have 10 light, 20 medium and 15 deep plush MFs.

Now I was about to spend more than £300 on colour-coding the sideskirts. I'm glad I went ahead and spent it on the above kit instead. The difference is incomparable and I would thoroughly recommend it above the colour coding because so much colour comes out in the paint now!!!

THIS IS THE BEST £300 I HAVE SPENT ON ANY CAR AND I THINK IT WILL TAKE A LOT TO BEAT IT, IMO.

Hope this has been informative.

Thanks for looking.
