Car alarm going off randomly & rear fog light bulb not working!

I currently own a 57 plate Jetta which has developed a problem. The car alarm has started going off randomly ( with no faults in the alarm system stored in the ecu) & the warning for the rear fog light bulb not working has appeared on the dash. I have tried changing the fog light bulb which didn't cure the problem then half an hour later the light on the dash went out. It's now came back on after a week!
Can anybody offer any suggestions or help on how to cure this?

Have a check of the wiring where it bends up from the car into the boot lid - there may be a wiring fault which can give a bulb out warning light and also make it look like the boot has been opened and sets the alarm off.

With a diag tester have a look at the last alarm triggers as this will point out what is setting the alarm off whether it be a door or bootlid etc.

I had similar problem with my MK6 Golf alarm. It was fixed by an alarm S/W update under warranty.
