Emergrency regeneration as in DPF?

Have you any warning lights on the dash? Engine light/glow plug light etc?

Yes i have a glow plug light. I have fauls on particle filter, egr1 valve ond also egr valve potentiometer. And the software says last regeneration of particlefilter 1200km since.

Is the car still under VW Warranty?

If so, take it back to them and let them sort it out under the warranty.

No i dont think so. Because the car was imported used when my wife buy it. And that was a big mistake. I have also tried to clean the particle filter with tunap cleaning but the car will not do more than 2800rpm.

I find these extremely difficult to do with VCDS so I end up using VAS PC.

Ok thank you, can i use the same cable/hardware i use on VCDS on VAS PC?

Cleared error codes and got the car to go very well. But after a while start problem again. Readers do not become a problem with particle filter. But coming up with a problem egr1 sensor signal too low. Also coming up wrong with EGR potentiometer. The last error comes only occasionally and always okkje. Where can i find the egr1 sensor?

Can we have the actual codes rather than an approximation?

Unscrambling the data blocks I cant see the need for a DPF regeneration and needlessly regenerating it will reduce its life. As far as I can see the Ash Mass is only 7.36 grams and the soot level is quite low too. As far as I can see you need to replace the EGR cooler unit, part number 03L 131 512 CE which I can only see as being available from VW. In the UK it is just under £300.

Hello again, thank you. I wonder to go for a solution to remove the dpf. Du you can recommand any to can help me with that to sell me a solution. I can do the job self if somone can sell me pipe replacement and software for the ecu.

And, is it posible to remove and cleaning the EGR cooler unit? That will only be a solution until the remove of dpf

Is there anyone who can tell me where the EGR Potentiometer (G212)
P0407 00 [167] is on this car?

Crasher

As I have already told you, it is in the EGR cooler.

Hello again, i have inspected the engine an i cannot find anything that look like that. I find the egr tube but nothing that looks like a cooler.

If you have a CAYA engine it has an EGR cooler.

Hello again. Here is some picture of the engine and egr tube. One valve on the front of engine and one valve at the back end.

Send me your VIN by Private Message, your cars may be a different specification to ours. This is the system that should be fitted to your car.

Crasher

Using your chassis number that you PM'd me I checked your cars specification and it definitely has the EGR cooler item 11 which was VW part number 03L 131 512 BH but changed to 03L 131 512 CE in early 2012 due to problems with the original. This part seems to be only available from VW for the UK price of £312.84 and it is such a common failure that VAG UK have 105 in stock.

VAG Error Code: 16791
EOBD II Error Code: P0407

Fault Location:
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Position Sensor (G212) B - Low Input

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.

Wiring/Connectors from/to earth on Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Potentiometer (G212) faulty.
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Potentiometer (G212) faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Potentiometer (G212).
Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Potentiometer (G212).

As taken from my EOBD II Error Codes (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?97964-EOBD-II-Error-Codes)

You can check the ash content of the DPF with VCDS and it will show when the last regen was done, I checked mine a few months ago.

Update your vcds to the latest version first of all.

It will not regen at 70grams of Ash. I can't remember the max figure but that is over it. You will have to replace or clean the EGR and then alter the value of ash to a figure below the threshold which is obviously 0 for a new DPF but on a cleaned one I now tend to set it at 50% of the listed maximum.

Hello again, and thank you for quick answer. I first will clean the EGR. I am not sure i understand you about the value i need to change. This is for it to regenerate itself or is this a forced regeneration? Is there a risk of fire during forced regeneration. Can i do that with VCDS software? I have the version 11.11.6.

The value has to allow a regen as it is too high but this must only be done when the ash weight has been reduced and ash cannot be removed during a regen, only soot can. Soot loading and ash mass are two different things.
