The "AUX in" 3.5mm jack socket in the centre arm rest allows you to connect any external device to play music in, controlled via the Media button of the radio. There are no options to control the iPhone/iTouch/iPod for scrolling tracks etc.

I assume you have telephone prep on your B8 which allows you to sync your iPhone for the purposes of telephone calls etc?

Audi is behind on the bluetooth streaming and usb, but they don't seem to be interested in playing catch up.

i would expect usb to be standard on a car of this class now, and I'd expect the radio to control iphone functions from the radio too. And if it has bluetooth, it can't be that hard to make it streaming bluettooth also.

I've had a Ford Smax, focus, kuga in the last 4 years and all had usb with streaming. I've even just got a head unit for my wife's peugeot 107 for £48 that has USB and bluettooth streaming.

I would agree with Audi being behind with their "standard fit" equipment in the audio world. My other half has just bought a 3 year old 207cc and the standard fit radio/cd has bluetooth audio streaming which of course allows mobile pairing too.

Why are Audi not ahead of the game here!!!!

They obviously not that good, I luv my car but its a poor effort when it has Bluetooth but I can't stream

Yeah but why include it as standard when you can charge someone for the AMI, then charge 40 quid a time for each of the cables that's needed for the AMI. Makes perfect sense why they don't do bluetooth streaming or standard USB ;)

for what its worth you can still use your aux port to stream audio from a smart phone via bluetooth with a aux bluetooth audio streamer - a simple plug in dongle that pairs with your phone.

Or get an Xcarlink kit fitted...pretty straightfwd and gives you more options.
