audi 80 sensor problem

Hi, My audi 80 tdi has a problem when revving the engine it clatters like mad. The only fault code I can read on my little scanner is the MAF sensor, swapped it withone that scans fine but failt remains, any ideas or has anyone come across this excessicve rattling, no oil light problems and no power if I try to drive it. So far changed the injector pump and all injectors, and yes checked the timing which is fine. the engine ticks over sweetly. anyone out there
