Hi all, slowly working my way through a couple of issues with my A6 1.8t,the one i`m trying to sort out at the mo is the fuel consumption i`m getting around 210 miles out of forty quid of fuel,i got rid of my 3.0 omega mv6 because it was heavy on petrol but i`m putting as much in my A6 so has anyone got any suggrstions on how to increase my mpg before i go bankrupt, cheers tony

Do you not have a MPG on your display. Money and miles it no measure of MPG. I get 37/38 on long runs and locally it drops to 32. This is brim to brim filling and via the computer which I find amazingly accurate. I do not sit in traffic though and the aircom is mostly off as I live in Scotland. Regards Peter

I could be wrong here but I reckon you're getting about 22mpg. That's very low unless you have a lead foot or do a lot of town/city type driving.

Is it an auto? I know they're a bit thirsty but should still be better than that.

I've a 2.8 quattro manual gearbox and rarely get below 30....

I`m just driving from A to B and driving sensibly and i`m not sat in traffic for any length of time thats why i can`t understand why i`m using so much fuel !!!!

What type of roads is from A to B though?

Get on the motorway on a SUnday morning and get a hundred or so miles in - you should be easily getting over 30 there.

When was the car last serviced? Has it been looked after? How many miles on it? Are all you rubber hoses etc all good?
