Hello Everyone,

On Friday last week I became an Audi owner for the first time when I picked up my A5 Quattro S-Line 2.0TFSI (2009). I love the car already. The only problem is the sat nav is out of date.

Having done a quick Google search I found a few online companies selling update disks but I have two questions.

The first is I don't know what version of the sat nav is in my car! I believe it is the MMI 2D but wanted to ask people here if there was a way to tell. I found the version number in the settings and wondered if you can tell from these?

Software version:
HNav_EU_K0022_2_D1

Nav. database version:
8R0060884C_ECE 5.6.8

The second question is whether these non-audi update disks are safe to use or should I just fork out the several hundred pounds that I assume Audi will charge?

Regards,
Philip

Could you take a picture of your screen and controls by the gearstick.

Easy to tell if we see that.

I'm guessing MMI3G

No if its 3G the eBay discs won't work as it requires a online connection to Germany from an Audi dealer to activate the map update.

Thanks Chris for your response.

Off the topic I love the proliferated leather gearnob is that standard on the 2.0 Tfsi ?

Hi, not sure if its standard but my A5 2.0 TFSi certainly looks the same; even the Sat Nav which is a shame as I'd like to update mine too (2009 '59).

Cheers,
Gareth

Do you have the extra joystick inside the central control dial thing?

If not you will have 3G DVD and it too needs Audi to do the update.

All S-Lines have that gear knob afaik

When you know what to look for, it's easy to distinguish between MMI 3G High and Basic.

If your software version number starts HNav you have MMI 3G High, and if it starts BNav you have MMI 3G Basic. The other way to distinguish is to look at the central control wheel of the MMI. If it is flat, you have Basic and if it has a "top hat" or "nipple" on top, you have High. Also, try playing a DVD in the drive - if you can, you have High.

Cheers!

MF.

Hi- I've a 2009 A5 with HDD 3G navigation. I have just paid Audi £320 for the update and new valet key. The navigation version information (Setup- settings- version information) displayed before it went in was as follows:

Software version:
HNav_EU_K0022_1_D1

Nav. database version:
8R0060884C_ECE 5.6.8

and afterwards it says exactly the same!

It was not a disc used to update, it had to live link over the web. The CD box (with nothing but a code in it) I got when I left says "Europa Version 2013" on the front. Also, "MMI Navigation plus (MMI3G)" The documents inside give 3 codes which are presumably keys for the software to be activated.

The part number on the invoice and box is 8R0 060 884 AR

So, is it me or has Audi failed to complete the update?

Ouch! I have a Jan 2010 A6 Avant with HDD Nav, and my local Audi dealer quoted a not too scary £102 for the 2013 Nav update.... I'm presuming a valet key isn't £200+ ??

I'm still trying to argue it out with Audi- I nearly gave up but having found the receipt I'm at it again now! The so and so's still can't tell me if the map update was successful or not.

I've been told I have no hard drive, it should have a disc in it, or it should have a SD card in it, no the update is by disc not over the web, I must have faulty software, and the numbers in the screen which you can read have nothing to do with map version.

I paid £45 for the valet key upfront. Then £79.20+ vat labour to code it. Then £166.67+ vat for the nav map update. So I was not quite correct as it was £340 all in.

If anyone can tell me if I've been swindled with the map update I would be pleased to know.

I'll try starting a new thread too in case that helps.

Post up the version information codes which you can get in the CAR+SETUP menu I think.
