Hi all what's the advice on remapping a 2.0 tdi 140 bhp ??

I know JimC64 remapped his fro 140 to 176bhp & is happy with increase in power and economy. Think it was through a dealership iirc. He may be along later to expand on that hopefully.

I've seen motec online do some different maps but don't know if anyone has delt with them

If you do a search for their name on here it brings a few threads up. This one seems to give a good review & it seems to suggest they are/were forum sponsors.

A4 remap??? (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?78943-A4-remap&highlight=motec)

Oh right lol, I did see it. The mods have to keep things in order though I suppose & you're better off/more likely to get answers if you open a thread with a title specific to your question. One of the remap companies who sponsors this site has replied to your question on the other thread too, so may be worth a chat with him.

There seemed to be a few search results, so it should provide yuu with a bit of reading. I'm not really up on remaps but I know there are plenty of previous threads where they've been discussed by members who are in the know.

Good luck anyhow.

It got removed because 1) your reply wasn't relevant to the OP, 2) you were piggybacking on someone's thread and 3) your post was vague.

I replied and left a comment.

I remapped mine from 140-170 with no probs 30-40 bhp is a nice safe remap.

Does it help 1st gear pull away

It pulls in all the gears and it is really good now when trying to overtake on country roads the extra torque is well worth it.

I have my 2.0tdi A6 mapped. It's a much better engine once remapped.

It does help first gear pull but not hugely.
Mine is a REVO map and its great. Can turn it on and off if needed.
Let me know if you want any more details.

How do you turn your remap on and off ? Do you have a box ?

Yeah, REVO make a switch that you can plug in the OBD socket. Easy.
It's designed for custom maps, when you want to change fuel/air mixture for race mode. (I bought it when I had a 300bhp Leon)
But it still works as a on/off switch on my A6

I was looking at the motech map that only comes in after 50% on the gas pedal so it can be driven normally and if you want the extra it's there

I don't quite understand how that would work to be honest.
That's not to say it wouldn't however

I can fully recommend the REVO map. I have had their maps on three of my cars now and they have all been faultless. Good power delivery and great torque increase with the diesel!

It's probably like having kickdown

This is an interesting topic as I'm looking to have a remap soon. However I've just read this on another forum

If you's is a 140 Bhp i would leave it alone, the turbo is too small and the turbine shatters with even the smallest boost spikes. If you want to do it properly then get yourself a BV43 turbocharger and keep the torque low to minimise strain on the clutch an flywheel (http://www.shopzilla.co.uk/rd2?t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fitness-superstore.co.uk%2Fcompact_elliptical_trainers%2Fn ordictrack_e9_zl_elliptical_cross_trainer%2F11434_ p.html&mid=110564&catId=13829&atom=11181&prodId=&oid=1650523601&pos=1&bId=18&bidType=0&bAmt=70b005e67cee82d9&cobrand=2&rf=af1&af_assettype_id=10&af_creative_id=6&af_id=11444). The bv43 is good for 200 bhp but your nozzles might not flow enough diesel for that unless the tuner uses stupidly advanced duration in the tune which will result in smoke ! Also some 140 and all 170Bhp had a particulate filter, that will need removing in order to gain much... On the stock turbo a mild increase of 15-20 Bhp is ok as ling as the tune does not spike. Don't go chasing numbers, go for drive-ability and reliability.
Drove wesmaster's car and it's a smooth tune however the b6 163Bhp (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004B3SUHW/) i have with a steinbauer tuning box is very raw and torquey, just the way i like it !

What experience do others have of turbo problems due to a remap 15-20BHP hardly seems worth it I imagine 40BHP is much more useful. As far as the clutch issue goes it surly depends on how you drive it.
