Am I correct in thinking that the 2.0 TDI's have a cam belt, which needs to be changed every 60k miles (and at considerable expense!), whereas the 3.0 V6 TDI's have a cam chain, with a life expectancy of 180k miles? Therefore potentially saving the cost of 2x cam belt changes?
Presumably a chain could be split and threaded round before being re-attached?
Cheers

Then chain never needs replacing unless it rattles but this only occurs on very early 3.0 TDI models on 2004/5 models

All v6 diesels have chains.

2.0 tdi's have timing belts which require changing every 72k miles. Got mine done a couple of days ago. Made use of Audi's fixed price servicing, so including water pump and oil change it was a shade under £700
