2002 Quattro question

I'm seriously looking at buying a 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro, but the service history is very vague, I've contacted audi and its only been into the main dealers a couple of times, now I know this doesn't mean it's not a good car, but the worrying thing is the dreaded timing belt issue, has it been changed or not.
I am prepared to allow for this work in any price I offer, but is there anything else I should be concerned about, as you might have guessed I'm new to audi ownership, and this forum, so I'm off the newbies section to introduce myself.

I was going to say it might have a chain! It seems the 3.0 has a belt and is a 4-5 hour job so if there is no proof it has been done, bank on a fairly hefty bill when you choose to do it..
