Hi guys,

I am new to the forum. I have just purchased a very nice 2.0 TDi Audi A4 Avant (http://www.shopzilla.co.uk/rd2?t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autospark.eu%2Findex.php%3F page%3Dshop.product_details%26flypage%3D%26product _id%3D13690%26category_id%3D291%26manufacturer_id% 3D0%26option%3Dcom_virtuemart&mid=265574&catId=13222&atom=11412&prodId=&oid=4516635130&pos=1&bId=18&bidType=0&bAmt=dd6acf5bafc6003d&cobrand=2&rf=af1&af_assettype_id=10&af_creative_id=6&af_id=11444) 2005, ex Audi Demo car, so hase a silver trims (inside and out) Full leather etc. The only thing i do not like is the stereo. It is the Symphony II (Double Din.) I am looking at replacing it with the following ES1074EN 7" HD Touch Screen Car DVD Player GPS TV WiFi 3G IPOD Radio AUDI A4 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230877462487?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649).

I know an OEM unit is better but i am on a budget. Will this be a straight swap. Will i encounter any major issues??

Many Thanks,

Jez Walker

another £60 you can get a really good alpine unit with similar if not better spec than that from here

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alp-ivew530bt-alpine-ive-w530bt.html

you'll also need

Autoleads PC9-401 wiring harness (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=wiring harness&x=18&y=10&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1) for half amped system £11.60 (possibly as i changed from single din)

DFP-05-07 stereo surround £12.64

and it should look something like this

It looks like a really nice head unit, and Also has a very OEM look to it as it doesn't need a surround unlike the pioneer unit. The only problem with those cheaper Japanese head units is most of them cannot be updated and soon become very outdated, i.e road changes etc, my TomTom app on my phone is constantly updating the maps (at least once every other month) so within a year you could have a very outdated map on there. But that isn't really enough of a problem to warrant not getting one in my eyes, Infact I may keep an eye on it and after xmas treat myself. :)
