You have the 1N1 system and what you want to upgrade to is the 1N3 system and the central part to that is the steering rack 8T2 422 066 B which is going to cost around £950 as you will have to buy it outright not having a surcharge unit to hand back. In addition you would need the servotronic solenoid valve N119 and associated parts at around £200. This would need wiring into the 17 pin red connector in the plenum chamber electronics box at pins 6 and 14 to the green/black and green wires which would go to the N119 valve at pins 2 and 1 respectively. Then the On-board supply control unit would need the long coding value changing to suit the new steering system. As far as I know there are no other changes.

Not even that if you buy the parts off eBay.

thanks for all the reply,s my local audi dealer is telling me that all i need is a converter kit at £202.75 [8e2998317]which gets me a solenoid valve which screws into the existing rack on the right side when viewed from the front, my rack is 8t2422066c and the rack which comes with it in is 8t2422066b i asked them about any other bits like wiring and a relay and they are to get back to me and the cruise control is a 3 stalk complete replacement unit for the existing 2 stalk unit cost from audi £165.37 and £36.28 for the lower cowling,i have VAG so i can reprogram all myself.

According to ETKA the Servotronic rack is part number 8T2 422 066 B but the "Converter" is just the N119 valve repair kit for PR-1N3 racks. Ask them to tell you what the part number of an N119 valve for cars fitted with Servotronic is and they will tell you 8E2 998 317, the plug for the converter is 4D0 971 992

but they will not be able to supply you the full wiring or the pins, just wiring repair set 000 979 016 E

hi crasher i have been offered a servotronic rack complete with solenoid valve off an a4 avant 2010 but the socket on the rack was broken when they took it off leaving just the two wires ,so onless there is anything in the end of the plug e.g. resistor, cap i may be able to just solder onto the two wire ends, just to recap on your thread are you saying all i need to do is run two wires from the socket on the rack to pins 6 and 14 on the red 17 pin connector in the plenum chamber then recode to suit, its just that i have read that some people remove a relay to stop the servotronic working as they don't like it they say its too light,i saw a photo of a relay being removed from below the steering column and in mine there is a space for an additional relay just were they are removing theres ,i am only taking a guess but it sounds like the current or signal coming out of the ecu is not strong enough to power the solenoid valve so the relay coil is powered by the small signal from the ecu which in turn pulls in whatever current[15/20 amp] the solenoid valve requires, audi told it may not work and i might have to change the ecu and that they frown on any mods, but going off past advice from them i take that with a large pinch of salt. what are your thoughts, if you or anyone knows the exact wiring to be done i would really appreciate it.

I am only going on the info I can glean from ETKA and ELSA but there is no mention of a relay on the wiring diagram, the two wires go from the on-board supply control unit to the rack.

8T1422065P changed to 8T1422066B and is the correct rack for cars up to 19/10/2009, cars made after that date may not be suitable-I am not 100% up to speed on wrong hand drive cars. Your English is 1000 times better than my Rumanian....

There is a bit of wiring that you have to make up if it was not retrieved from the donor car and a controller has to be recoded, it is all described earlier in this post.

Have anyone the instructions for VCDS coding?

I think it comes up on the pop up help boxes as you look at the values.

On this forum they said:

Pin 1 from rack to pin 1 from bordnetz
Pin 2 from rack to pin 12 from ECU

Why do you guys have different pins?

Why do you guys have different pins

If you look at post #9 you will see this information is taken from the VAG wiring diagram.
