Mk V GTI Engine mapping

After having my car (2005 GTI 6 speed manual) in for repairs following a rather treacherous hail storm, I was told that they had to take the car in at a later stage to remap the engine ECU (apparently it was a warranty issue).

Anyone who knows what this might be?
