Engine Management light now permanently on!

Hi, i have a 2008 3.0ltr TDI Touareg with 97,000 miles on the clock. Runs really nicely but the engine management light started to come on a month ago. I did a bit of research, ran it for 30 mins / 60mph / 4th gear and it generally cleared itself. Its now been on for 2 weeks solid and I cannot shift it.

I am due a service next week. Whats the likely synopsis and can I do anything in the meantime??

Get it scanned for faults as we'll be guessing as the light could mean anything

Could be a DPF fault as you have been trying in vain to clear but more than likely you have a faulty inlet manifold flap unit. No, fitting a new motor will not cure it, it will need a new inlet manifold assembly (approx £460 per side plus labour) for the side affected and the other side will not be far behind.
