I am sorry if this has been covered but I have searched with no joy.

I had my 2005 A6 2.7tdi mapped at chipped uk a few years ago as part of a Dyno day arranged through this site. I was more than happy going from 170bhp to 220bhp with bags more torque. As far as I am aware, this was a proper live mapping session on the Dyno (though I could be wrong) which is the proper way to map!

Now, I am getting a C6 facelift 3.0 quattro auto that is 240bhp stock I believe. I am a little worried that with only 20 more bhp it won't feel that much faster than my old car which had a manual box.

So, I want to get the new one remapped but a couple of places have told me that the EEPROM has to be removed from the ECU to be reflashed with a generic map which won't be tuned to my car at all. How do people rate these kind of generic remaps?

Would I be better off waiting for the techies to 'crack' the anti tune mechanisms or whatever it is they do?

never thought I'd have to jailbreak my car :)

What year is the car?
