As title suggests, wondered if any companies still remapped/ chipped these cars. struggling to find anywhere at the moment.

not yet, but once i have a few other bits sorted, like a gearbox that works, then i will be giving it a try. i have a spare ecu to play with so na harm done if it all goes bits up.
i have had a google and seen some positive things about him though. seems the only way to go with a 1z. mind you, mine does seem to fly along now so if it makes a difference then i will be very happy.

Thanks I might try one in my old A4, I was told you could put the ECU from a 1Z into an A4 and remap it, seems unlikely to me but then again I know naughan all about such matters

Would quite like it professionally done, I've had the ecu out and opened up to fit a chip that the previous owner gave me. All the chips in my 95 80 tdi's ecu are soldered in. Turned out to be the wrong chip anyway, but it looks v complicated in there and I'd hate to do damage to such a vital part.

thing is you apparently can't re flash the chip, so replacement is the only option, unless anyone knows otherwise. replacing a chip is quite tricky in that you really need a heat gun with a blade to heat the chip up all the way round, but re oldering is straightforwards. if you can find a local place that does electrical rework then it would be right up their street. someone that repairs telly or other electriclcal stuff would also be able to do it.
