1995 tdi Immobilizer/alarm windows not working

Hi All

Newbie here, have a 1995 TDI Mk 3, when you turn key in the door, the windows go down, and when you lock they go UP! Well today on probably the wettist evening, the windows go up, but the nearside rear window only goes up an inch.

Hi Taffy boy,
Couple of things to consider, but not saying this will sort it......give the glass a really good clean with autoglym glass polish or similar and also pay attention to where the glass slides in the rubbers, any resistance here may be causing the safety feature to operate. You know if it senses too much pressure raising window it thinks little fingers are in the way and it lowers back a inch to allow finger to remain attached to child!
Secondly check cable loom in rubber gaiter between door and main body next to the door hinges. I have had intermittant "one touch lower" feature break (although "one touch raise" still worked) and it traced to broken cable at this pinch point within the rubber hose even though no sign of damage to the rubber externally.
