hi all first post audi 100 2.2e whine noise

hi all new to the site i own an audi 100 1989 model genuine 51k from new full history 2.2e manual but i do have one problem with it :confused: at 30mph a whine starts not too loud but the faster i go say 65mph it gets more high pitched anyone had this problem or herd of it before the car its self is one owner very well looked after all original etc ? could it be the diff ? the gearbox is perfect puzzles me as my uncle had one of these from new and ran her upto 270k with no problems . any help or advise would be very much appreciated .
