Firstly, I will apologise for my serious lack of knowledge of correct terminology or what I am even talking about.
i have a 2008 Audi A4, s line, new shape, 143bhp, 2 litre tdi.
Had the car 6 weeks and its developed a central locking fault, here's the story so far....
1) Central locking working fine, then suddenly stopped. Keys are both unable to lock the doors remotely and need to use key entry on drivers side, a which point alarm goes off until engine is started, then can open other doors to car usingthe unlock switch in car.
2) Three days later car was book in with VAG Technik - Manchester based independent Volkswagen, Audi Group Specialist (http://www.vagtechnik.co.uk/) manchester for a service as this included diagnostics we assumed we would get a fault code and discover what was wrong.
3) Also, I have a 3 months warranty with the car, which I am 6 weeks into, provided by Oakwood Motors, I have the 4* cover but they would not tell me if I was covered until it had been on the diagnostics and I had a definite fault!
4) At end of service they could find no fault code and I was still no further with the warranty place. The audi specialist said that there was software that only audi have that picks up certain faults?? So, we may need to go to the main dealer.
5) I then got put onto, via a friend, a guy who apparently really knows his stuff, plugged all my car in for nothing and said there is a fault with the convenience/comfort control unit/module!! He said it would be better for us to go through audi as it can be a complicated job.
6) Got back onto warranty company who are saying that this is not covered as they only cover pumps and solenoids in connection with central locking.
7) Then got onto audi who say I will have to use their diagnostics £85 + vat and the warranty should cover it as our car doesn't have the pumps etc to control the central locking!
8) Back onto warranty, they say they will discuss work with Audi when it goes in and then decide if I'm covered or not!!
9) Between all this guy who looked at car and diagnosed fault is saying if we get a part number and buy the part and find the location of unit ( to save him stripping half the car down) he will replace it and code it for £50, as he's a friend of a friend (said friend incidentally is a mechanic)

So, I don't know if I am asking for the part number and location of unit and where i can buy one or some general advice about what any of you would do in my place!! I am sorry for the lengthy numbered set out but half trying to get it all clear in my head also!!

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated, I am so stressed with it all. Money is tight coming up to Christmas also, especially as we have only just bought the car!! I can't seem to get a straight answer out of audi either as to what it will cost if I do have to foot the bill!!

HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance!!

Take it back to the dealer. Tell them its not fit for purpose and you intend to inform trading standards.

The warranty is purchased by them and provided by another company, would I have a leg to stand on??
Might be worth contacting http://www.oakwoodmotorcompany.com/ to see what they have to say, do you think??
Thanks in advance,

Anyone trading has to provide at least 3months warranty.
Your car has a fault, they should fix it to your satisfaction or your money back.
If they won't play ball contact your local trading standards.

Thanks, good to know that there may be something I can do if the warranty company try to say they are not covering the fault!!
