My Passat TDi (afn) was slow warming up and not quite reaching 90 degrees, running colder on cold days and colder still when the heater was on. Didn't even bother to take the thermostat out to check it as it seemed pretty obvious that was the problem. £16 for a new one, a half hours work and sorted. Happy days! Now quick to warm up, really hot heater. Didn't even need to undo the header tank as did the job on wheel ramps which lifted it just high enough for the bleed hole on the heater pipe to be below it.
Took out my battery and tray and cleaned out the drain holes whilst I was at it - again, 15 minute job and all sorted.
Ready for winter now apart from putting my winter tyres on. :)
