SEAT Alhambra 1.9 diesel 1998. Air leak in fuel system.

I've got air bubbles in the fuel pipe (the car, that is, not me!) and problems starting after car has been standing for some time. Anybody got any experience with locating the leak and fixing it? Thanks for any ideas.

Some air in the clear line is quite normal.

I realise that, but this is much more than normal and starting problems are severe after car has been standing. If I don't drive it for 24 hours, it can take several goes of turning engine over for 2 or 3 minutes at a time to get it to draw the fuel up the pipe and start. And just recently it refused to start at all so I had to disconnect the pipe from the filter and draw the fuel through with a hand pump.

It could be the T piece or T piece O rings on top of the fuel filter if yours is that design.
