I have a4 tdi 1999. I have the car chipped already and was thinking on getting a sports exhaust. Will I get any noise with just getting the cat back or even straight through someone was telling me I wudnt even get a noise from it. Could anyone give any advise please.

Are you talking about "noise" as in you want a louder exhaust note?

It depends on whether the ECU was removed and a chip soldered in or if it's a chip that's plugged into the loom. A remap is a reprogram of the existing chip in the ECU without removing it. You're never going to get a V6 straight pipe sound from a diesel

it was the original ECU that was replaced.

Too noisy for ADI, 114db so couldn't go on track, im attending the TT owners dyno shoot out this weekend so will get some video of it on the rollers, not many folks realise its a Diesel, so left the TDi badge on the boot for them to look at if you know what I mean lol :-)

You could always try a company like this (http://www.exhaustafix.co.uk/custom-made-exhausts/) or like this (http://www.aas-exhausts.co.uk/) they are quite local and would be able to get the best BHP gain possibilities and also the sound that you are after.

Granted, they are more expensive being custom built, but not as much as you would think, and with it being custom you get to choose everything, if you so desire!!! lol

Worth getting a quote and some advice in my opinion.

The original chip in the ECU was replaced or the whole ECU?

I will definitely try these garages. I have tried a tyrespot on scottswood road that make up custom exhausts. They were telling me I would not get any tone from the exhaust. I was talking to someone who has a golf gt tdi and he has a stright through without cat he works in a garage and says that diesels should pass M.O.T without cat on. My clutch is starting to slip in higher gears a bit. I got a price today and my car has the fly wheel aswell so in looking at around £460 for the complete clutch kit. So looks like I will have to delay the exhaust for the time being

Powerflow, I believe.

Not sure about the MOT, its all about the hydrocarbons, (HC), Carbon Monoxide, (CO), and Year.

You could do worse than checking out this site (http://www.motuk.co.uk/default.asp)

Where have you been looking for your clutch kit?

Powerflow is fine when combined with this accessory

I just went to my local backstreet garage who always does my work. He rang up one of the dealers that he uses and got me an estimate of £460
