Plug in tuning Boxes

Has anyone used or is using one of the after market plug in boxes? My questions are
Do they improve power?
Do they improve mpg?
Do they improve torque?
Do they invalidate your warranty?
Can Audi tell they have been plugged in?
Does insurance need telling?

Would you recommend having one fitted?

it depends on which plug in tuning box you are on about as there are many many different types ranging from the cheap to the expensive. could you provide a link to the one you are thinking about.
