I have a 2001 Passat 1.9 TDI 130 PD and the previous owner has increased the power (circa 170bhp) and (allegedly) mpg but i would like to get it restored back to VW Standard. Can this be done, any ideas on the cost and can anyone recommend someone in Nottinghamshire to do the work. It drives like a dog on heat, pulling like a train everywhere and it is just annoying.

Scot.

Yes of course it is possible to have the car restored back to standard. Firstly I would contact the previous owner and ask him where he got it remapped, then give them a call and ask them if they would put the original map back on. This would generally be the cheapest and easiest course of action to take.
If the above option can't be done, then you simply need to find a GOOD tuner in your area who can read your vehicles software and then see if they can find an identical match standard software in which to load back to your vehicles ECU.
Hope this helps
