Please don't contact us to ask whether you can be a tester. These are all spoken for already.

Bugger :zx11: Cannot wait for this - good luck with the testing!

The intent is that VCDS-Mobile will work with any device that can work by a wifi connection using a web browser. At this point, I do not have a list of compatible devices nor limitations. I know that it has been tested on Android phones, iPhones, IPads, Windows phones, Nooks, and a whole host of other devices. So, my expectation is that Android tablets will be able to talk with our new device when it arrives in 2014.

Hi there.

VCDS has it's place. Can it read your SKC? Nope.

There are two versions of SuperVAG, one in a dark case and one in a light blue one, I'd look at the light blue, newer one. You can perform diagnostics, mileage adjustment if you change your cluster (it can often be cheaper in time to replace the cluster with a repaired one if your DIS is screwed) and they're self powered, rather than requiring a laptop.

Oh, and it's cheaper than a genuine copy of VCDS.

thanks,
Jonathan

I am also looking to buy the SuperVAG Professional Super VAG K+CAN V4.8 OBD2 Code Scanner for VW Audi Ship from UK | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181000460249?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649) in the hope that I can read my SKC code and program a new key (this one):

AUDI FLIP KEY FOB REMOTE, A2,,A4, A6 3 BUTTON 4D0 837 231 A | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300819491233?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)

Am I looking at the right thing, would this be able to do what I want and then be useful as a vehicle diagnostics tool if needed in the future?

By the time I've programmed one key it has paid for itself and saved me £50, so I reckon it's worth a try? Looks/sounds like just what I need! I have used diagnostic equipment before, on a TD5 Land Rover, and this looks to be a similar sort of thing. I have never programmed keys before though.

Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin.

You don't mention which vehicle you have. The SuperVAG you have linked to is the older version and without knowing your vehicle model/year, it's not possible to suggest whether it is or isn't suitable.

If you're handy with a PC then you could use either VAGTAcho or VAG CAN +K Commander which would be cheaper than the supervag unit. Again though, it depends which car you have for which tool.

That isn't a UK seller, nor is it a genuine item. It's highly doubtful the seller will give you any support.

It is cheap though, I wonder why ;)

VAGTacho is ~€390 (see here (http://www.maltchev.com/kiti/))

VAG CAN Commander is upwards of €1000 (see here (http://www.abritus72.com/index.html))

Neither are cheaper than the China clone above.

bahahahahaha. bear with me a little while i control my laughing.

"nor is it a genuine item" hmmm, who makes SuperVAG units??? They're a Chinese designed/built unit AFAIK.

As I said, thats the old version. Not sure what support you need? Plug it in, update it using the supplied software, done. I have sold 00's of these units in the past and never had one returned to me. Same with the newer (lighter blue colour) units.

Knock yourself out and pay too much for your 'official' SuperVAG unit then ;) I'll sell you one with a warranty and support, £150. (that's a joke, I don't sell them anymore)

They are merely a cobbled together rip off clone of the professional tools.

For your reading delight - voila (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?53088-Re-Diagnostic-Section)

Glad you found it amusing, always here to help, Brownie points for selling '00s :)

Hi JT,

I have a 1999 A4 1.9tdi estate (110bhp). I guess this will work on that age of vehicle? It is in the UK for shipping, so no customs duty to pay, 3 weeks waiting, etc.

I am not great with laptops and such, and much prefer a standalone unit if possible. I am running Windows 7 and don't think that works with VAGTacho and can't be bothered with any "work arounds" that, in past experince, never work. Plus it was quite a lot more expensive than £51?

I appreciate I won't get "support" but I didn't with the Land Rover unit I had. Can't say I really needed it either.

As I say, I just want to program a key or two, and then it'll probably live in the tool box until I (maybe) get a fault code.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Yeah, that version of supervag will work wonders for you. Just follow the guide when you get it, install the software and update it to the latest version. Usually, the tech support i've had from china has been pretty good, if a little difficult to get the ball rolling.

The fault code reading isn't too bad on them either, it's not great but it will at the least give you a Pxxxxx code which you can reference by a quick Google search.

If in the future you purchase VCDS (an amazing tool btw) the supervag is a pretty handy tool to have with you. I had to do an ecu swap on an A6 2.5tdi a while back and rather unfortunately I didn't receive any codes with it. (nor did the owner of the A6 have the security code for his car)

All good fun.

I think for the average DIY'er then they're great.

best,
JT

Pretty much what I wanted to hear :approve:

I am used to searching google for fault codes so that's what I'd expect. I don't need a professional tool - I do need a spare key!

Will get one ordered. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
