Just saw the new Focus ST for the first time in the flesh today, parked outside a Ford garage. Next to it was a standard Focus, Titanium I think. And yet, the ST looked far more boring than even the standard one!?

Then, on investigating the spec of the new ST ont'internet, they have binned the 5 cylinder lump, in favour of a four clylinder! I actually had a soft spot for the previous ST's with their pretty garish looks and especially the noise from the 5 pot turbo. Now it has NOTHING going for it!

That's a very Aston-like front grille on the Mondeo.

The new Fiesta has gotten the same treatment

Mondeo is very nice, Fiesta is also nice, the Focus ST I'm afraid is relying on flashy colours to make it look special. In silver/black/white it looks incredibly ordinary (the one I saw was white). The new face, as shown on the Mondeo and Fiesta doesn't seem to work on the Focus and makes the front look bland. And why lose the 5 pot!? Give me a Golf GTI/Octavia vRS any day.

There are some interesting developments at ford just now - this new engine the sub 1 litre 3 cylinder ? They have a V6 bi-turbo version kicking about with mid to high 200's and fuel consumption of around 60 to the gallon..... Ford are pretty switched on and moving the game on. Still the body and interior isnt quite vag standard but if it was then they would have a good car
