Cartridge oil Filter

Do I need a special tool to remove the oil filter on my Polo or can I just use a socket wrench?

Also any ideas how much the paper filter element is from Vw?

Is this what your filter housing looks like? If so. you'll need a 36mm socket bit to undo it. Got mine from local motor factors place, cost about £6. Think it is was on a 1/2inch drive. Jus tto be sure, measure it.

Or just use some mold grips (Dogs) or some large pliers! that's what works for me...
