I am looking at replacing my current car, a VW with 1.9 tdi engine and 6 speed box with possibly a Seat Altea

I have read some reports that the 2.0 TDI is a very troublesome engine what with oil pump, injector and head problems , whilst others say it is just certain 2,0 TDI engines that cause problems.

Are all 2.0 TDI's to be avoided or is it just some engine codes that should be given a wide berth:confused::1zhelp:

Thanks.

What year? Most problems were sorted by 08/09

IMO try and find another 1.9, you can't really go wrong there.

04 - 06 year.

My current 1.9 has been remaped to 150 bhp from 115, what can the 105 bhp be remaped to. The other thing is that I do like the 6 speed box on my car, and I am sure the current 1.9 only comes with 5 speed gear box.

What did skoda do to resolve most of the problems for 08-09?

The oil pump and injector issues do not apply to that engine. The main issues with the BKD are flywheel and turbo.

Thanks what are the issues with the BKD re flywheel and turbo, does the BKD suffer from porus head issue.

What VW's, Skoda's and Seat's had the BKD engine fitted?

The flywheels break and rattle causing a poor idle meaning a new flywheel and clutch. Turbo's wear and clog up extremely easily, today we refitted a rebuilt turbo on a 2006 A3 2 litre PD TDI that was howling and overboosting but the car had only done 15K miles from new. Both these jobs cost around £900 to £1000. The BKD was fitted to Golf 5, Golf Plus, A3, Altea, Toledo, Leon etc. but not Passat. I have only seen a few cases of porous head and non for a few years now.

What can be done to prevent the flyweek from breaking and the turbo from clogging up, btw I am used to giving a car a good work out when required to clear out the cobwebs:drive:

Would this be fitted to a Skoda Ocatvia 2.0 TDI from 04 to 06 reg?

Thanks.

You can't prevent either happening, it just does and yes the Octavia 2 2 litre PD TDI is also a BKD. Stop worrying about it, the BKD is a massively utilised engine and is intrinsically very reliable.

Due to the Octavia II being over budget, went for Ocativa I 1.9 TDI.

Personally I think the Octavia 1 is a better car to live with, nothing to do with me having one though...

The Alhambra 2L is an 8v, which is why it has more torque, bloody good engine too!
