I have just purchased a three year old Tiguan with above radio fitted. It has the phone button but all this seems to do is mute the radio. Does anyone know what steps I need to take to get this working.

Does the car actually have bluetooth fitted?

The radio can be fitted without bluetooth.

That I am not sure about. Do you know where it should be located and I will check. No multimedia socket fitted which is also a blow.

Yes there is Bluetooth there but I think it might be for media streaming. Can't seemm to get it to do anything

Have a look in your manual.

Or go into your RCD settings and have a look for phone/bluetooth.

Yep. Done all that. Suspect there is a module a might need to fit. Any ideas?

OK I have now confirmed my Tig does not have a Bluetooth Module. Car is 3 years old (5N). Can any one tell me the part number of the kit I need to upgrade my RCD510?

Thanks for that. I have been looking on eBay but they all seem to say compatible with white dot display and I take it mine is red. Any thoughts on that?

You need to be very, very careful what you fit. The VW Premium Bluetooth kit that works with the red display is a nightmare. I know, I've got one. It only works with an rSAP phone which means most (but not all) Nokia, plus some Blackberry, HTC, Samsung if you are very lucky and have the right combination of firmware, hardware and the correct phases of the moon. I got my wife's Galaxy S2 to work, eventually, sometimes.

There are several other options available, if you look on the ICE thread you will find some that will interface with your display and radio. Personally, I'd just fit a Parrot with the MultiCAN module. I did this in the wife's car, it works with the multi-function steering wheel, it is completely covert and cost me just north of £100 including all the cables.

Thanks everyone. I fitted the VW box as recommended above in the end and this is working fine. Trouble is I now have an airbag error light on. Think I might have to call VW.
