I'm considering this and have just spoken to a local fella associated with VW clubs that I am members of and he advises 140>170 for £225

Furthermore, providing I don't 'drive the car like I stole it' my mpg should improve!?

Fair price and comments?

Experience chaps/chapesses?

words of wisdom/help/advice appreciated

JimC64 remapped his 140 A6 to near enough 170.

He may see this and comment and provide you with figures etc.

Those figures are about right, as for price it depends on the mapper, some are better than others, Shark Performance are one of the best VAG mappers around.

That is most unusual from Ben and his team as their customer service is second to none.
If it were me I would give them another call as there will be a valid reason why they haven't called you back (lost your number, or just very busy etc)
I have yet to hear of a bad report from a genuine customer.

There is a company who will drive out to you and do it remotely for a £50 charge but I cant for the life of me remember who they are... You're welcome :)

140 -176 but I had mine done by Audi from almost new so paid a lot more to preserve the warranty of the car.

140 - 170 for £225 is really good price wise if they're a trusted remapping specialist and I've seen some charge quite a bit more than that.

You'll definitely be able to have a lot more fun and the car will be more responsive in all gears and quicker throughout generally.
If you can resist the temptation to floor it constantly and drive it normally you will see a benefit in mpg.......usually around 10%-15% so if you do a few miles and hang onto the car for a few years it will ultimately pay for itself.

I'll give them another shot, it was ipod connectivity rather than mapping but will give them a call anyway.

This is fantastic Simon...sounds like a great price but knowing who they are or how to reach them kind of hinders me a little :p lol

yep, I plan on keeping it a while, it's got 30k on it now and I reckon i'll keep it until it's got about 130k on it so prob 3-4 years. Could do with a little more under my boot but it's mostly about the economy.

Only had the car a week so going to run it for a few weeks to get a good idea of current consumption so I can see if there is a difference. the fella who will do it has said that if i'm not happy with my mpg after it's done he'll reverse it and give me a refund.

Can't say fairer than that really.
