<yet another tyre thread - here we go :o>

Time for new tyres. The Falken ZE912's on the rear have done 55k on my 1.9TDi Avant Sport on 17" rims. Not too shabby at all, but now I've got the drone of death appeared since they are near to the wear marks.

So - I could put another two Falkens on the front and move the fronts with 4+mm to the rear - they've gone up quite a bit though - now well over £100 a corner......or I could get Barum Bravuris 2 XL - all round, for the price of 3 of the Falkens....

Anyone got any views which of the two is better..? I'll happily use the Falkens again as they've proven solid - but I can't find any way to compare without the experience of others (235/45/17's btw). Auto Express say good things about the Barum's, and they are asymetric tread which is good for me - so anyone happy to share their experiences?

Cheers,
Dan.

Check out Uniroyal Rain Sport 2 tyres - a Michelin made tyre with a different name who Michelin own.

A premium tyre for middle range money.

I put new Barums on my cabby last october and I've been really happy - I got them fitted at National Tyres after buying them on Ebay - if you buy 4 you get a bigger discount, and they're made by Conti.

I was going through Tyre Shopper who are listed on Quidco - and can get all 4 Barums for just a few quid over £300.....

Just had a quick look and they are symmetric tread. I didn't feel the A4 was happy on really wet roads on symmetric tread (the Dunny's that were OE from the factory - SP Sport 9090's were very grippy when dry but aquaplaned pretty badly!) - too many "brown trouser" moments with heavy water on the M25........are you running them on yours - if so - what are they like to live with? They are about £15 more per corner than the Falkens were from what I can see....

I have two on the back of my A3 - Crasher on here swears by them so I thought I'd try them out - I haven't had any scary moments in the rain since having them on and have noticed a significant improvement in grip on the rear from the Bridgestones they replaced.

Hi danclyon

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 are Directional tyres extremely good in wet and dry conditions (I have never had a problem with Uniroyal)
Dunlop S9090 reputation is good in dry / warm summer sun but get very hard in cold / wet /winter therefore you get a loss of grip (I have suffered this and no longer use Dunlop car tyres)
