Hi all,
During a 100 mile motorway trip in warm weather on Sunday, my Polo started to stutter/missfire intermittently when holding a constant speed between 60 and 70 MPH. It would be ok when accelerating, or if I took my foot off of the gas, but didn't like holding a constant speed. I checked the oil and water once the engine had cooled at the end of the trip and both were a bit low so I topped them up. The problem continued for a while but then disappeared (I was taking it steady on county roads by then). I later carefully drove the 100 mile return trip cautiously that night (it must have been cooler) with no problems.
Since the weekend the issue has come back, it tends to start about 15 minutes after I get on the motorway on my commute to work, so I am assuming it is once the engine gets hot.
I'm guessing it is not a fuel system issue as it only occurs when hot. Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas on where I should start looking to fix this?
