Thank-you for your replies , all levels have been checked and are ok as for getting a code the car was checked and no fault code was found because the fault was intermttent on abs, handbrake and power steering. The garage advice was to return the car when the warning lights stay on any-one any ideas.

Hmm. I thought that if a light came on then a code was stored?

Hi, I'm not 100% sure if 1.2 is the same as the 1.6 and 1.4 but my money is on low power steering fluid. Reservoir can be found by the left front light (on the side of the battery) blue/green cap with the dipstick attached to the cap. If it is this you will notice it most when the wheel is at full lock left or right or you are going around a corner. Many people forget that even though these cars have electric power steering they still have fluid.

Problem sorted the intermittent dash lights were down to the regulator on the alternator, new part fitted for £100 and no more abs or power steering light coming on hope this helps somebody else with similar problems. We found this out from an auto electrician.:arms::arms:
