Hi guys

Sometimes when i try putting the car in 1st its very hard to do so. Will eventually go in. All other gears are fine. This is an intermititent fault and doesnt happen all the time.

Could this be the Cluth/DMF issue of is it the gear box

Thanks

Most likely just the gear linkage.
None of the Audis I have ever had were great in the area of slick gear shift including my B8 now. This is the one area that BMW still beat Audi in.

Mine is exactly the same. Pain in the backside when you want to make a swift getaway.

Got used to it after nearly 50k, don't suppose I'll be spending any money on getting it sorted.

I'm just waiting for my 3rd A4 to be built. My first one (54 plate) had this problem, leading to a new (under guarantee) gearbox. The 2nd one (08) needed a new flywheel and a few other parts. I'm hoping that I don't have this problem with my new one - when it arrives.

Even though, as reported, BMW does not have the problem, I still would buy an Audi over a BMW. The inside of the 3 series still looks, to my mind, cheap.
