Guys,

The ECS light is showing on my AUDI A4 Avant 2l diesel (2006). I have had a diagnostic done and the problem seems to be the EGR valve.

Audi have quoted me £500 to replace this which seem extortionate! The part can be bought from GSF for about £170

Has anybody replaced this on their Audi and how easy/complex is it to do? Do you know of any decent garages that will replace this part at a reasonable cost?

Thanks,
Aj

Typically you will have a BLB, BRD, BRE etc engine the EGR valve is part number 03G 131 501 R and is £316.76, the price from GSF is irrelevant as the dealer is not allowed to buy it from there. GSF told me it is £221 inc VAT. The rest of the quote sounds like about an hours Audi labour.

The question is what are the benefits of getting an official AUDI part as opposed to the 3rd-party product. Is it really a premium product from Audi?
Only thing I can see is that Audi offers 2 years warranty as opposed to 1 from 3rd-party parts.

The warranty is the only benifit, the GSF replacement is made by VDO Siemens/Pierburg, the same company that makes the genuine part, they are identical.
