I have an AFB engine in my A6. Seems to be in good shape despite its high mileage. I'm quite keen to put a bigger turbo, injectors etc. All second hand of course and on the cheap (at least try and keep it cheap). What turbos should I be looking at - I'm hearing 2259 and 2260 garrett ones but they come in quite a few different configurations depending on what vehicle they came off. Or what about the KKK equivilent from something like a 3.0tdi. I don't want fancy race injectors but there must be something off a commercial vehicle that fits and pumps a good volume of fuel in (assuming the vp44 can keep up). Can the stock intercooler deal with the extra boost from a bigger turbo. I presume a custom map would be needed afterwards too.
Would something like this bolt straight on?

It's quite tricky to fit the bv50 to your AFB as the drain pipe is rather odd shape. The gtb2260 will need converting to vacuum and adapters built up from scratch. If you're looking for a plug and play setup then you should look at a hybrid from Fin turbo. Bosio pp683 will do rather nicely as well...

Hey Chris - good quick answer! I pm'd you on the other forum to so feel free to ignore that one. I don't necessarily need plug and play but obviously something that can be adapted to fit without too much drama. Surely drain pipes aren't that difficult to replace or modify? Is there anything stock that will fit the bill and is already vacuum. I don't really want to buy new/rebuilt hybrid unless the price is really sharp

I have a few turbo's for sale if you want to start experimenting ! bv50, garrett GT2559v and a GTB2260Vk... The easiest to dit would be the gt2559 as it's already vacuum operated + uses a t25 style flange (4 bolt type) which will mate with the collector/manifold. It will need a little adapter plate to raise it a little but that's easily overcome...

That sounds good - what sort of money are you wanting for them (pm me if you prefer). I'm going to be heading into London late afternoon on Fri to sell a motorbike so that would be a good chance to pick one of them up and have a chat about my options if it suited you.
