I have a 7 year old automatic Audi A4 (1.8l) that has done 120K miles. It starts perfectly when cold and has recently had a new battery. The problem I have is when I stop the car e.g. for petrol and then try starting the car again. It can take as long as a minute to eventually kick in and feels like the engine is flooding. I have been told by a friend it may be a temperature sender

Yes it probably is.
Replace it.

Lex,
Thank you very much for your help. I have searched the threads but not properly found answers to the following 2 questions:
1) Any idea where it is located and what it looks like?
2) Where do I buy a new one
Many thanks
Richard

You will be after the Temp sensor not sender and you can get one from Audi or VAGPARTS.com
