This was done a while ago now, posted in the chat about cars section i thought it might be more at home here and will give a rough idea as to what format to follow.

when posting your show n shines... please do try to do a write up, its always nice and interesting to see what products different people use to get their final finish :approve:

Method used :
Wash using 2 bucket method, wash mitt and AG body conditioning shampoo
rinse using hosepipe and water (lol)
dry
applied AG SRP using Meg's sponge applicator, buffed with M/F cloth
applied AG EGP using Meg's sponge applicator. This confused me a bit and taught me a lesson.... READ THE INFO.... its a liquid, smells like petrol, the idea is you apply a very thin, even layer of it, let it dry for 30/60 mins ( i did about 40) and then buff off lightly with a m/f. this is what gives the 'clinical' shine to the car.
Applied CG XXX hardcore wax using Meg's sponge applicator, left for around 5 mins then buffed with a M/F clothfor the tyres i used AG instant tyre dressing and the windows, AG Fast glass....see what you think ;)

Nice effort for a 1st try!

Well done.

I`ve seen the post on DW too!

I`ll be detailing a Subaru on Fri and a Ferrari 355 on Monday.

I`ll help anyone with technique/ product choice if needed.

Shall I post a detail on here or link to it on DW?

Regards
Mark

whereabouts are you based mate? if you ever do a weekend detail is there any chance i could tag along and watch? :Blush2:

its up to you, i think we'd prefer for you to post it up here, jsut dupe your posts, ie copy the content from DW onto here, it avoids people having to register to view attachments or anything that way as well ;)

also, whats your username on DW?

Your more than welcome to come along and watch.

I`m from Diggle and sometimes detail from there( use my folks garage/drive) but now live in Bolton.

I`ve been trying to keep my weekends free from detailing as of late, due to my girlfriend being 8 months pregnant...

I dont post a great deal on DW and my username is the same.

I have a few images of previous work
A very rare 308 in fibreglass, only 8 were made, all the rest are steel.

And I do quite a few Impreza`s having owned one previously and having a few Scooby pals.

Heres my 290bhp Impreza wagon on track!

i think diggles quite near me (stalybridge) could be the other side of the world though lol im useless at geography :Blush2:

i've heard those imprezas suffer badly from stone chips, apparently the paint is quite soft?

i'm getting more into the detailing world so want to start watching a few pro's at the job, see just how much goes into it....

thanks for the PM ;)

I`m not a pro in the true sense of the word!

I do detail on my 4 days off shift... its kinda a second line of work/hobby.

Diggle is only up the road(I have lived in Mossley a couple of years ago)
Think just past uppermill.

Not a problem...;)

If you finish work early friday gimme a call and you might still catch me doing the Impreza?
Yes Imprezas are "chippy" but a lot of that can be down to how they are driven.

I did the "EVO" triangle North Wales and hammered the front of my scooby... unbelievable roads though!

Well if you carry on through Uppermill centre, go under the viaduct and follow the signs for diggle, its only 3 or 4 mins up the road.

Not sure when I`ll be finished, depends what time you think you could get there?

Possibly 5-6 I`d be done...

Thats a shame, I`m doing the ferrari at the owners premises, so cant really do that one... and its monday anyway.

Nope not going, most of my efforts are baby focused!

Maybe we could arrange another time?

Sooner rather than later cos detailing will be moving aside for a while(baby will be my priority)

I still dont mind advising you or anyone with products or how to`s in the mean time!

:( yesh we will have to arrange another time, tell the ferrari owner i wont steal it ;) a bip of the horn and a bit of pretend steering will do :approve:

Nice work ESH. How do you find the AG Shampoo?

the AG shampoo suprised me a little actually, although it seems to clean well, it doesnt foam very well, when washing the car with it, its more like a cleaning lube than a shampoo..... i use cheapy stuff like carplan triplewax wash on the mothers terrano (SEE HERE (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=12262&highlight=nissan+terrano)) and that seems to foam up much better and IMO, there isnt a great deal of difference in the finish. :(

Yes I`ll second that, not overly keen on AG shampoo.

I use simoniz and 2 bucket technique with a lambswool washmit.
This method and rinsing with clean water has a bigger effect.

Like I said, I`ll see if I get time to post those 2 details on here, I know they arent VAG stuff, but it may help/be useful to others on this forum.

No, not used that, I`ve used most of the Megs consumer washes ie gold class, nxt wash and soft wash gel.

Nxt is pretty good, seems to wash and lubricate contaminants away very well.

I get 5 litres of Simoniz for £3.86... hence thats my main shampoo!

If you need to go along in the meantime,

feel free to tag along, if it suits us both timewise etc.

Oldham(chadderton) will be nearest I think?

They`ve got ace microfibre cloths in bulk, perfect for detailing!
Mega cheap too!
