You need to do a scan tbh see if it shows any errors, as could be multitude of issues including the compressor.

had the scan done and there was no isues at all on the ac system, have unplugged the compressor and the wires/connection look fine...
is there anyway of confirming that i may have a compressor problem?
and can i check what feeds i should be getting to the compressor when the unit is off/on etc...

it is a 2007 audi a3 2.0 fsi if that helps. heard there was a recall is that right?

thanks alot

I had a similar prroblem with my Mk4 Golf Turbo...it turned out to be the compressor (unfortunately for my wallet). I had mine regased too, before we found this out!
Unless the design has changed, there is a an assembly on the end of the compressor, like a clutch mechanism, which engages with the drive belt when the A/C is switched on. This was the item that has failed on the Golf and it was a known issue at that time (2004-2005).
The A/C circuit is simple so it either works or it doesn't. It sounds to me like the compressor isn't spinning and therefore not cooling as it should.
Start the car and get someone to switch the A/C on and you should see the clutch mechanism on the end of the compressor engage with the drive off the engine - if this isn't happening its probably the compressor unit that needs replacing, followed by a regas I'm afraid!

Go to a local A/C specialist as thats exaclty what my VW centre does! Save yourself dealer pricing.

It doesnt have the same clutch system as what your talking about and I'm unfamiliar with the system that's on it, I'm guessing it's one that is suppost to be constantly running???

Still unsure!
Thanks for the reply.

Yes I forgot. My Golf was ordered with the Manual A/C, not the Climate Control system, so it is probably different on the later VAG models with Climatronic.

Regardless of which aircon control system is on the car, the compressor pulley should freewheel until cold air is needed. They all have some kind of clutch which makes the compressor spin and pump the coolant around the system. There is usually a 'click' as the clutch engages and the pulley then drives the compressor shaft. No 'click' or motion of the compressor shaft = faulty clutch or missing electrical signal (check fuses).

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but with summer time now I tried re-gassing my air con and getting the same issue, NHN would you happen to know what type of errors VCDS can throw related to the aircon? My worry is the compressor has gone faulty.
